Liberty Mourns the Loss of Janet Muttart

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Janet Muttart, the matriarch of the Liberty Elevator family. Janet N. (nee Csejka) Muttart, 70, of Long Valley, NJ passed away on Aug. 31st, 2020 at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City.

Until her passing, Janet held the position of Secretary Treasurer of Liberty Elevator Corporation since its inception in 1987 and previously as National Elevator from the early 1980’s.  The company she and her family elevated to prominence from its New Jersey roots, was recognized as the best Family-Owned-Contractor in the elevator industry in 2018. She took great pride in the success of the family business and it was reflected by her unwavering commitment and work ethic. When Janet was in the office, she lifted the team to success by holding everyone accountable to high standards while treating each employee like family. Even when Janet wasn’t in the office, the well-being of the Liberty family was always at the forefront of her mind. 

Although extremely focused on the family business for nearly 40 years, Janet made sure to make time for her family and travel. She loved her boys, Doug & Darren unequivocally but her 8 grandchildren brought her an unmatched joy and the gift of a being a doting grandmother. When not at the office or with family, Janet was driven with a passion for Corvettes and a love for travel. 

Janet is survived by her husband, Dennis Gorski; two loving sons, Douglas Muttart (President, Liberty Elevator Corporation) and his wife Brandi, and Darren Muttart (Vice President, Liberty Elevator Corporation) and his wife Kelli; eight cherished grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, Douglas K. Muttart in 2007; and by two sisters, Gloria Escolano and Cheryl Katari.
